Cet épisode est une comédie musicale où tous les habitants de Sunnydale se mettent à chanter!

L'épisode commence le matin chez les Summers où tout le monde se prépare et se presse, Buffy à d'ailleurs du mal à se lever.

Partie au cimetière pour sa patrouille quotidienne, Buffy pousse la chansonnette (Going Throug the Motions / Comme un automate). Même les vampires et les démons entament une chorégraphie chantante pour accompagner la Tueuse.

Le scooby gang est réuni dans la boutique de magie de Giles et ils sont tous d'accord, il leur est arrivé de chanter pendant la matinée! Tout le scooby se met bien sûr à chanter pour exprimer leur théorie avec un petit plus pour Anya qui se lance dans une chanson rock. (I've Got a Theory / J'ai une théorie)!

They got their hoppy legs ans twitchy little noses

Toute la ville s'est réellement mise à chanter et à danser (They got the mustard Out / Plus de moutarde)!

Dawn leur annonce qu'au lycée c'est la même chose.
Pendant que le scooby discute, Dawn dérobe un collier appartenant à la boutique de Giles.

Tara et Willow se déclarent leur amour en chanson après que des garçons les aient un peu trop regardées ! Tara lévite sur son lit emportée par sa chanson (I'm under your spell / Sous son envoûtement).

L'affaire est plus dangereuse qu'elle en a l'air. Un démon fait danser un pauvre innocent jusqu'à qu'il brûle.

Anya et Alex sont chez eux et chantent leur crainte du mariage ainsi que les défauts de chacun mais se disent qu'ils s'aiment malgré tout (I'll never tell / Il faut pas l'dire) !

ANYA : This is the man that I plan to entangle Isn't he fine?
My claim to fame was to maim and to mangle Vengeance was mine!

Anya, Giles et Alex marchent dans la rue essayant de trouver un remède à tout ça tandis que les personnes autour d'eux chantent sans cesse (No parking / Pas de parking).

Femme : Put that pad away. I'm asking you, please, no

I think that hydrant wasn't there

Buffy va à la crypte de Spike pour lui soutirer des informations mais Spike lui chante son amour en lui disant qu'elle lui fait mal et lui demande de le laisser " reposer en paix " (Rest in peace / Reposer en paix).

SPIKE : I died So many years ago, But you can make me feel Like it isn't so

Willow avait lancé un sort à Tara pour qu'elle oublie leur dispute en dissimulant une fleur sous l'oreiller de Tara alors que celle-ci ne devait plus toucher à la magie. Après une discussion avec Dawn, Tara se rend compte de ce que Willow à fait.

Mais pendant ce temps, Dawn qui essayait le collier volé se fait enlever par les complices du démon de la danse (Dawn's lament / La complainte de Dawn).

DAWN : Does anybody even notice? Does anybody even care?

Arrivée au refuge du démon, elle danse d'abord avec ses complices avant de se lancer dans un duo avec lui!
Tout en chantant, Dawn lui annonce que sa sœur LA TUEUSE viendra la délivrer et il envoie aussitôt ses esclaves chercher Buffy.

C'est l'heure de l'entraînement pour Buffy, Giles l'aide tout en chantant. Il lui dit qu'il voudrait rester son ange gardien, pouvoir la protéger mais qu'elle n'écoute pas ses conseils (Standing in your way / La pierre du chemin).
Buffy ne se rend même pas compte que Giles chante et continue à s'entraîner.

Tara cherche dans un livre de quoi vérifier ses doutes et ceux-ci sont justifiés quand elle trouve que la plante laissée par Willow sous son oreiller sert à oublier.

Giles et Tara chantent leur malheur ensemble (I wish I could stay / Je voudrais rester) .

Spike ramène un complice du démon de la danse, qui veut la Tueuse, à la boutique de Magie (Henchman Song / Chanson d'Henchman).

SPIKE : Come on then, Sing
HENCHMAN: My master has the slayers sister hostige at the bronze, because she summoned him,
and at midnight he is going to take her to the underworld to be his queen.
GILES : What does he want?
HENCHMAN : Her.

Le démon de la danse garde Dawn et à minuit il veut la faire sa reine pour l'emmener ensuite dans son monde.
Giles veut que Buffy se rende seule au Bronze là où se trouve le démon en compagnie de sa sœur.

Quand Buffy part, Spike puis le scooby gang qui l'avait abandonnée décide de l'accompagner, toujours en chanson (Walk throug the fire / Marcher dans les flammes).

BUFFY : I touch the fire and it freezes me, I look into it and it's black
Why can't I feel? My skin should crack and pee - l I want the fire back
Now, through the smoke she calls to me - To make my way across the flame
To save the day or maybe melt away I guess it's all the same

Arrivée au Bronze, Buffy fait une démonstration de chant et de danse, rejoint par " ses choristes " Anya et Tara (Life's a show / Une vie qui chante) . Elle avoue alors qu'elle n'était pas en enfer mais au paradis!

Buffy, en solo, recommence à danser et commence à brûler mais Spike "la sauve" en la stoppant.

Tout le monde pense que c'est Dawn qui a invoqué le démon parce qu'elle porte son amulette, mais elle avoue qu'elle l'a juste pris, elle n'a pas invoqué de démon.

Xander finit par avouer que c'est bien lui qui a invoqué Sweet (le démon de la danse) parce qu'il pensait que ça ramènerait la joie dans leurs coeurs.

Le démon, s'il suit ses principes, devrait donc faire de Xander sa reine, comme l'idée ne le réjouit pas beaucoup, il jette alors l'éponge et s'en va en chantant !

Une dernière chanson s'impose et tout le scooby chante (Where do we go from here / Maintenant qu'allons nous faire).

Quand Spike quitte la salle, Buffy le rejoint pour le baiser final.
